How to Select a CNC Lathe
Compare swing, turning length, spindle bore, chuck, turret, control and production requirements.
The short answer
Choose a CNC lathe around the parts and operations you need to produce. Send drawings, material, tolerances and batch information, then compare the proposed machine together with its workholding, tooling, controls and acceptance scope.
IXORTA prepares project-specific equipment configurations and export quotations from Türkiye. Use the checklist below to define your requirements; final specifications and scope belong in the written offer.
Prepare your enquiry
- Representative part drawings and material
- Blank size, workholding and required operations
- Tolerances, finish and inspection method
Send the machine type, required capacity, destination country or port, project timeline and technical requirements.
Technical quotationDescribe the workpiece, not just its diameter
Provide representative drawings with part length, starting stock, finished geometry and material grade. Identify the features that matter most to quality and explain whether parts start from bar, a forging or another blank. Ask the supplier to confirm the usable machining envelope with the proposed workholding installed.
List the required operations
Separate basic turning, drilling and threading from operations that require additional capability. Ask the supplier to identify which operations are completed in one setup and which need another machine or handling step. Do not infer a machine’s configuration from a model name or a photograph.
Compare the complete quotation
Request a clear list of the control, chuck or collet arrangement, tool stations, coolant equipment, chip handling and any automation. Distinguish included items from optional accessories. Ask for the operating manual, installation requirements, training scope and an initial consumables and spares list.
Agree how the machine will be accepted
Define sample parts, measuring methods and the acceptance responsibilities in writing. If production time matters, request a test or documented calculation using the actual part and process assumptions. Catalogue speed or power figures alone are not a promise of your finished-part output.
