How farms compare feed demand, batch size, storage, grinding, mixing and conveying when selecting feed machinery.
The short answer
Start with the amount of finished feed needed each day and the realistic production hours available. Then define the feed form and recipe requirements so the supplier can assess the complete process, not only the nameplate capacity of one machine.

Technical quotationBuild a daily demand estimate
Use your own flock plan and nutrition adviser’s feed-consumption figures. Include the separate rations you intend to produce and any seasonal changes. Keep current demand and future expansion as separate figures. Ask the equipment supplier to state the inputs used for its capacity proposal so the calculation can be checked.
Convert demand into operating requirements
Divide daily tonnes by planned operating hours to obtain an initial average hourly requirement. This is a planning calculation, not a production-rate commitment. Allow the supplier to assess batching, cleaning, recipe changes, maintenance and material handling when proposing a practical line size.
Define the whole processing line
Specify whether the enquiry concerns mash feed or another product form, and identify the required raw materials. Request a process diagram covering receipt, storage, weighing, grinding, mixing and conveying, with any additional stages explicitly listed. Do not assume that a mixer or pellet machine quotation includes the surrounding line.
Check site and storage interfaces
Provide the available building footprint, clear height, electrical supply and delivery access. State the raw-material delivery frequency and planned finished-feed handling method. Request the utility schedule and the foundations or structural works required from the buyer. Ask how future expansion would connect to the first installation.
